Couple of Updates

Sorry no pics lately. Kinley has been sick & we've been trying to get her well, plus going back & forth to see PaPa at the hospital..it has not been a good week at all!

Papa has been on a roller coaster ride. Saturday they switched up his meds~and he was feeling great early that night with NO headache at all. Then for some reason he didn't have doctors orders to keep the new meds coming during the night. So they put him back on his old pain meds & he was so sick all night & the headache came back hard.
But today was a better day~he's back on the new meds & he actually got up & walked around the halls a little bit. He's hopefully going home sometime this week, but we shall see. Just keep praying that he continues to do better with the new meds.

On to Kinley..after trying for a week or more to figure out what was wrong with miss priss..tonight we finally found out she has the flu (& is probably now getting over it) & an ear infection. She was tested once with a negative result & then her nurse practitioner said she had a cold. We knew it was more than a cold..but after 2 doctor visits what do u do?? However, today after she woke up from her 3 HOUR nap (she's hardly ever done that) she had 103.7 fever.
So we took her back to the urgent care clinic down the road & he said ohhh yes she has the flu.. & he couldn't believe the nurse at her doctors office missed it. HELLO!!!!
Anyways I couldn't fill her RX bc well it's Labor Day & it was 6pm when we left the clinic. So tomorrow will hopefully be a better day since she will finally get some antibiotics in her.

PHEW, can we just fast forward to post-flu season now?

PaPa

Just wanted to update everyone on my stepdad. Monday morning he was in the "Attic" in one of his buildings at work. He fell through the rafters & when he did he hit the back of his head on the way down~leaving him with a gash that required staples, slight bleeding on the brain, a fractured skull, a bruised frontal lobe, a severe concussion, a few cracked ribs, & a scratched up back. He was admitted in ICU on Monday afternoon & they couldn't give him anything stronger than Morphine because of the bleeding on the brain (didn't want to sedate him too much). The bleeding is now going down & resolving itself so they just switched up his pain meds yesterday to something alot stronger. He has a severe headache that won't go away..& now his blood pressure is high & heart rate is really low. Last update I got - they are wanting a cardiologist to come in and look him over to make sure his heart is ok..& he was also moved to a room on a different floor.
Please just take a minute to send a prayer up to the BIG MAN! He could really use it.
I will continue to update as I get more info!

New Texas Laws

I'm actually pretty happy about these new laws we will be having to abide by, ESPECIALLY the NO cell phones allowed for drivers under 18-thank the LORD!
AUSTIN (August 31, 2009)—Tuesday is the first day of the state’s new fiscal year and the day that hundreds of new laws go into effect.

Starting Tuesday, the age of children required to ride in a booster seat goes from under 5 to under 8 or shorter than 4-feet-9 inches.

Using a handheld phone while driving through an active school zone becomes illegal, but local authorities can only enforce the new restriction if signs announcing the ban are posted at the beginning of each school zone.

Drivers less than 18 are banned from using a wireless communication device while operating a vehicle.

The restriction applies to licenses issued after Sept. 1 to applicants who are less than 18 years of age.

Drivers less than 18 to whom original licenses were issued before Sept. 1 are restricted from using wireless communication devices during the six-month period following the issuance of the license, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

All passengers in a vehicle will have wear seatbelts, no matter their age or where in the vehicle they’re sitting.

Teenagers trying to get their first driver's license will have to get 34 hours of behind-the-wheel driving instruction and they'll have to take a driving skills test in addition to the written test now required.
(thank you!!)

Smokeless tobacco users will pay a higher tax.

A proper method for folding the state flag becomes law.

High school students will have more freedom to pursue the elective courses of their choice on the recommended graduation plan.
(pretty cool)

Concealed handgun license holders will no longer face license suspension for refusing to display it to peace officers on demand.
(not too sure about that one- I still think they should display any weapon)

Carrying a concealed handgun into a bar will still be a Class A misdemeanor, but it's defensible if the business does not clearly state that 51 percent or more of its income is from the sale of alcoholic beverages.

Defaulting on a student loan will no longer disqualify an applicant for a concealed handgun license.
*So, what do y'all think?

Jessika's Baby Shower

~Zoo~

Today we went to the Zoo w/ PawPaw, Gi, Dylan & Emily. Jeffrey wanted to check out the new Asian Forest at the zoo- and I must say it was well worth it! We watched this HUGE orangatang go crazy with a cardboard box..& then a worker came out to give him some water & food. It was pretty cool! There was also a neat little area for the kids to play. I thought there could've been more animals but this was still pretty entertaining!

Happy Birthday Price!

On Saturday we went to Price's 2nd Birthday Party! It was so cute & Kinley had a great time. We couldn't stay the whole time because I had to come home to get ready for Jessika's baby shower but we sure enjoyed our time swimming & swinging!
They set up a big tent outside & had blow up pools for the kiddos~such a cute idea!

All the towels for the kiddos to take home~each with their name on it :)
