My sister has her degree in Early Childhood Development and was a coordinator at a center in Abilene for several years. She advised me against putting Hannah in her crib as "punishment" because of the whole negative association thing. I did it anyway when nothing else worked and neither of my kids EVER seemed to associate the crib with something negative. I feel the need to clarify my previous post..

For me, it worked and there was no negative association because after about 3 trips to the crib (for Holdyn it was all in the same day and I never had to do it again) they got the message. Because they caught on quickly due to my consistency, there either wasn't time for them to really feel negative about their cribs or any negative feelings went away fast because it was not a form of discipline I had to use on a daily basis. It was something I resorted to a handful of times when their behavior was beyond acceptable.

This is what I was talking about for you when Kinley was acting out so bad. I didn't mean it as an every day thing and the only discipline method. Maybe for people with really stubborn kids this wouldn't work (I noticed so many advised against it). But for me, and maybe I'm just lucky, it worked like a charm and my kids have always gone to bed at night perfectly. No negative associations here!

You and Jeffrey know your child and what works best for her better than anyone else. Go with your mommy insticts and you'll do great everytime!

Thanks Amanda! And I hope no one felt disrespected from what anyone else had to say! Every child is different and I know every parenting style is as well. But I felt like maybe there was something else out there that I could use! I always thought by working at ACL with the 2 year olds that I would never have a problem with knowing how to discipline my child and that i would always know how to handle them, boy was i wrong! haha! oh well. i think alot of it now has to do with her not feeling good lately- with the flu and a stomach virus. but we'll see! thanks for the help girl!!
